Hopeless Romantic

Who wants some coffee? It is exactly 6.07 pm when I open this book to see what is hidden beneath the pages. Its freezing cold so I make a cup of coffee and put on a bowl some popcorns that the girl next door brought me. What do you know about popcorns apart from the fact that they pop while being cooked? Carl Tanzler is a queer character, he’s got a twisted mentality as they put it. His inability to let go of things is beyond human understanding. Pack your snack and board with me to this land of unthinkable. Put on a warm jacket and carry your inhaler. Tanzler was an Austrian-born physician who lived a relatively normal life until 1931 when he fell head-over-heels in love with a young tuberculosis patient named Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos. Elena, a 22 year-old Cuban-American woman, was taken to the hospital where Tanzler worked in Key West, Florida. Tanzler was captivated from the moment he laid eyes on her. As a child, Tanzler had visions of a stunning, dark-haired woman who was de...

Last Breath

Ahem, so I just woke up in the middle of the night, carefully and cautiously put aside the hands of the 'she' holding me. I felt like doing a random read. I like reading random things in the middle of the night when out of the blue I wake up, more often I make amazing discoveries.   I reached for my phone and typed “something to read” the result was, 23 life-changing things you can read right now. I was not in the sulks of changing my life at 2 am in the morning. What’s even there to be changed? That didn’t tickle my fancy so I kept on wandering… poking my nose into everything that seemed interesting. In the furthest corner of the internet, I met Margaret Howe. Something heaved me to her, the picture. She was an amazing lady, I could tell, sceptical and curious like a ten years old me. She was pretty as pretty could be. Her third name was Lovatt, her bizarre relationship with a dolphin during a NASA-sponsored experiment makes her one of history's strangest characters. ...

Zoey Seboe

Its a Monday for women. To all the amazing women in the world I send you LOVE. In the streets of the internet I came across Zoey and my heart wobbled with love. Meet Zoey Seboe, a 22-year-old aspiring Miss South Africa 2022 who was born with Lamellar Ichthyosis, a rare skin disorder that many mistake for burnt marks or eczema. Lamellar ichthyosis is a type of ichthyosis that affects the skin. People with this condition are often born with a tight, clear sheath covering their skin called a collodion membrane. Zoey believes that everyone is unique in their own way and wants everyone to focus on the natural beauty of human existence. Her family encouraged her to model as she grew up, telling her that she was beautiful all the time. She refused to be defined by expectations and impressions in a culture where beauty standards are frequently unreasonable. Zoey Seboe, was just named one of the Top 30 contestants for Miss South Africa 2022, she has overcome her skin problem to pursue...

I've learnt a few new things today. I learnt them amidst a sad story that I almost forgot about them. I held them tight at the back of my mind, lest they escape. Bhagavad-Gita is one of them. A word that you don't meet everyday in these streets, do you ? It caught my eyes, it attracted my attention because it is a word you and I haven't heard before. If you've heard it then you don't know what it really is. If you know what it is then you're knowledgeable. I owe you a pen and a paper. A study told me it's one of the holy scriptures for Hinduism. It has a long history...  On a Tuesday evening when you're not taking purple tea, you may decide to read a book. " Those in peril" by wilbur smith wouldn't do you bad. It will make you know why you will one day need me so badly. Probably to tie your shoe laces or just to tell you a story. You may decide to read about cats.  To know where black cats originated from. Why white cats are loved more th...

Childhood is such a gift. The fact that at one point you were a child is just amazing. From poor family or a well off family you just found a way of enjoying your childhood. When you had no heartaches because of oil and gas prices. You didn’t even care about prices because... why would you? You got scars that became lessons and good memories as well. When I was a child my mother wanted me to be a pilot and our pastor used to call me Doctor. I didn’t know what I wanted to become but my father wanted me to be who I want to be. All is well because I’m here being what I didn’t intend to be but it’s all working well. God’s plan you know… Childhood is fragile. In my reference books childhood to some capacity defines who you become. This might be scary! Story Story In 1929 when my grandfather was having his 5 th birthday party a couple living in the mill town of Alcolu, South Carolina were proudly blessed with a baby boy. They were blacks, African Americans. They lived in a humble comp...
