Zohnerism

Did you know that you can actually get rid of face acne by drinking a lot of water? I mean a lot of water till you die, then you won’t have to struggle with bad skin any more? I thought you should know. Some years back, I met a friend at the 10th floor of a certain building. She was this beautiful womanz with a bewitching smile. We became so fond of each other and became best of friends. Occasionally she would tell me things about a certain guy. The guy they were having a thing with. Surprisingly they would meet once in three months, yet they didn’t live an ‘impossible’ distance apart. So one day as she was bragging how she’ll be brought flowers on valentine’s day and I boldly told her “You are very single” she looked at me badly – but I was sure she was not close to receiving   any flower for valentine (from the guy). At 11.59pm on Valentine’s Day, the only flower she had was from a random tout who was thoughtful enough. Hours elapsed into days and the guy sensed a shift in atte

Whom did I visit ?

After seeing the Shanquella Robinson’s story I thought widely about certain things. The video was stomach-turning and sickening . Many things about women have turned the internet upside down this ending week. It’s that art of Ronaldo and Messi by Louis Vuitton that has neutralized twitter. So I say unto you, to be on the safe side you all should remember to treat with utmost seriousness the advice to set apart 23hours of your day to fear women, and the other 1 hour to fear them more! So this morning having woken up earlier than it’s normal for Sunday, I decided to continue with my routine of fearing women. In my quest to find a piece to read, I found other couple of reasons to fear women! There is this story by Lance Stevenson , he wrote it a couple of years after it happened. He got an invitation to attend his cousin’s dinner party. They had never met before and only talked over the phone once in a while. He was even surprised that his family invited him for dinner out of the blan

Blue Coast and white Cheese

The Samsung guy had himself a movie for the long trip. I had myself a bad stomach. We all had a thing for the trip. In his phone there was a group of teens wilding in the streets. The street was well lit under golden lights. You could see Korey Wise, Raymond, Kevin and the likes. A story of the Central park five. A tale of a society where a black man has no rights. A tale of two similar persons, but while one makes it and escapes with their life to live another is left doomed and susceptible behind the steel bars. I kept asking the guy “how far is Mtito Andei?”  but the answer was always still too far. Too far was toooo far until it couldn’t be too far any more! The fact remains it was a looooong night.   At 8 am in the morning I was crossing the ocean at likoni. Likoni is a funny place if you’re visiting it for the first time. You see figures running – wrapped in black buibuis and white kanzus. You may think a bomb has been detected and people are running for dear lives, so who ar

The five steps

Trevor called me early in the morning. It’s not strange because he is a guy who can call you at 5am in the morning to tell you absolute bullshit. I had just reached the office and before I could put my behinds down on the seat, my phone rang. I was still breathing heavily because I had just used the staircase to 6 th floor. I felt like waiting for the elevators would make me 1 hr 32mins late instead of the 1hr 30mins I had already made peace with. I was dearly saving 2 minutes. I received the call and on the other end was a seriously laughing voice. Like you could picture all his teeth out, him shaking his head and tapping his feet on the ground. I took a moment to really think of what would make a single guy so happy, at only half past nine in the morning. He suddenly went calm and told me ( with chuckles in his words) that he was brushing his teeth when he remembered a period back in 2017 when I owed my mum some money and couldn’t pay back. I was deeply drawn back and busted i

Coast too far

Hello Tuesday, You guys don’t know what happened that day I was travelling to Mombasa. Of course, it was the first time. I had booked a Tahmeed bus a day earlier. I usually like the seats just a little past the middle of the bus backwards. Mostly number 16 – 18. The bus was to leave Nairobi at 8 pm.  I wanted to leave for town at exactly 6pm so that I would find time to eat and buy some stuff. I didn’t want to mention that it is a pair of sunglasses I was going to buy at 7pm but well, I have. I didn’t even find one after all, aisuru!  I took a quick shower, about a minute and three seconds - pulled my black and white rubbers from under the bed and fitted my bomber jacket. I grabbed my earphones and a marvin hat for the night;  said a prayer and left. I had a small hauler bag with the things you carry when going to coast. A beach short, some camp shirts, and a pair of sandals being a few of them. At Karen I got into this brand new matatu that had loud music after the conductor utt

For the Ones we've lost

The rains are here, its good to see the mist and the fog another time. Dear fog and mist, you were missed. We’ve eaten dust like it was our daily bread. Man, like our lives depended on it. People starved, our animals died while the rains were somewhere in the space just watching. Haidhuru! Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night for nothing- for no reason and lose sleep completely? You get out of the bed and grope in the darkness unclothed like some ghost. You can’t find your underwear so you just pull the pants coz, who knows? You take a glass of water, pull your hoodie from the nail on the wall and get out to the balcony. The breeze is fine, the sky is clear and the stars are twinkling gorgeously. In the neighborhood dogs are barking, from a far another is barking too and you wonder what they are trying to communicate. You stare blankly at the open sky that is slowly getting covered in clouds. The stars are slowly but surely waning.  Down the road, you see someone’s husband st
