Mid last month, Kia revealed the pricing and details for the 2025 Sorento Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid, both of which have received the same updates as the 2024 pure combustion model. Unsurprisingly, prices have increased compared to last year—quite significantly in some instances. However, there's an unexpected twist. The base price of the new Sorento plug-in hybrid is actually lower than it was.
This is because a new entry-level trim has been released. The plug-in hybrid's base price, which includes a $1,375 shipping charge, is now $49,365 for the EX model. This preserves the same hybrid drivetrain with 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but it comes with a $2,300 lower starting MSRP than the model from the previous year. In summary, it has a 14-kilowatt-hour battery pack, a single electric motor, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2025 Sorento has a 30-mile electric-only range.
Also, the EX trim level includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated power front seats, a 12.3-inch centre display, 19-inch aluminum alloys, LED headlights, and an abundance of USB power connections spread throughout the three-row cabin. A limited number of driver-support systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision avoidance, are included as standard along with over-the-air upgrades. The facelifted appearance that Kia unveiled last year covers everything.
Upgrading to the SX Prestige trim will cost $54,465, which is $2,800 more than last year. This trim includes features such as leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, a Bose sound system, dual 12.3-inch screens for the driver and the central infotainment system, and more. It's also the only trim level that includes Kia's complete suite of driver assistance technologies, including a surround-view camera, advanced frontal collision avoidance, rear collision avoidance, and blind-spot collision avoidance.
Kia also shared pricing and details for the mild-hybrid Sorento. The entry-level EX with front-wheel drive is priced at $40,065, while opting for all-wheel drive increases the price to $41,865. These are modest increases of $1,700 and $1,200, respectively, compared to last year. Meanwhile, the Sorento Hybrid SX Prestige sees a significant price hike of $4,400, starting at $48,265. The hybrid powertrain, which has a 1.5 kWh battery powering a single electric motor and a four-cylinder, turbocharged, 1.6-liter engine, produces 227 horsepower and is carried over from 2024.
Looks more like lowering the price to match the reduced specs
